Districts
- Vake
- Shops, cafes, clinics and Vake Park are within a walk along Chavchavadze Avenue. There is no metro, and the upper streets are a steady climb.
- Saburtalo
- The metro line and the shops on Pekini and Vazha-Pshavela avenues cover most daily needs. The avenues are wide and loud, with less greenery than Vake.
- Vera
- Small shops and cafes are close, and Rustaveli metro is at the bottom of the hill. Streets are steep and sidewalks narrow.
- Sololaki
- Freedom Square and its metro station are a few minutes away. Many houses are in uneven repair, and supermarkets are few.
The usual choice is Vake or Saburtalo. Vake is greener and quieter on its side streets; Saburtalo has the metro and usually lower rents. Apartment rent in Vake, Tbilisi, is generally among the highest in the city, so check whether the apartment is near the avenue or far up the slope.
Vera is a Tbilisi neighborhood for people who want to walk to Rustaveli Avenue and do not mind hills. People living in Tbilisi as an expat tend to look only at these central districts. Cheaper areas along the metro, such as Didube or Isani, can score well for transport and groceries and lower for parks and cafes.
